Ecclesiart Resources
Amazing art in Faith-Filled Places
‘Ecclesiart resources’ are a new initiative from Art+Christianity drawing on the rich diversity of art from churches and cathedrals all over the UK. In this project A+C will be creating visual resources for Lent and Advent using art that anyone can visit in person or by going on their website. They’ll also be creating three podcasts exploring and comparing different works of Christian art from the Ecclesiart collection with artists, church leaders and community members reflecting on what the art means to them.
Ecclesiart has over 110 different artworks from the last century that are permanently on view in our churches and cathedrals. The breadth of imagery can take us on lots of different journeys into faith and spirituality. We know that many people already use Ecclesiart in education and for research but we want people to be able to use the collection for more contemplative learning particularly during times in the Christian calendar such as Lent and Advent.
Our team of experts drawn from fields of theology and art will write and 'curate' downloadable resources for Lent and Advent that can be used in groups or individually alongside the Ecclesiart webpages. We'll also be making three podcasts about different Ecclesiart, visiting some of the artworks in situ and interviewing the artists as well as people to live and worship with the artworks.
