The Cinnamon Network
Church Engagement
What are we doing?
We make it as easy as possible for local churches to set up sustainable social action projects, find funding and get the right support and training to make a positive impact.
Cinnamon Connect gathers the collective wisdom and expertise from our team and partners, and makes it freely available in a highly interactive, online platform. Churches are able to access regular training and webinars, download quality resources and build interactive action plans. In addition, Cinnamon Connect also acts as an online community, where social activists and churches can interact with each other, sharing ideas, accessing resources and offering mutual encouragement.
We work in collaboration with a network of 37 grass-roots social action charities – known as the Cinnamon Recommended Projects. We are investing in the growth of this network, and together unlock the potential of churches of all denominations across the UK to make a difference in their communities. This leads to a quality and speedy response, which is one of the ways which we build trust between church and civic partners.

Our Church Engagement Advisors are a diverse team of community development experts who provide 1-to-1 support and guidance to church leaders who want to establish or develop community action projects in their communities, but don’t know how.

Cinnamon Micro-Grants of £2,000 are available in some areas to help churches start Recommended Projects.

Why are we doing it?
The full impact of COVID-19 is only starting to be realised, and resilience is hardened through a cost of living crisis.
Cinnamon believes that churches are jam-packed full of potential and that we can help to release it.
What do we hope to achieve?
Through the support of Westhill Endowment, we want Christian leaders to feel better connected, with access to the support which they need.
In 2023 we will support over 150 local churches to establish sustainable social action projects responding to local needs.
These churches will help local church to tackle poverty, support vulnerable families, enable children and young people to flourish, nurture older people, improve health, and create safer communities.
