Southport Area Schools Work Trust

Safe Spaces

Southport & Area Schools Worker Trust (SASW Trust) is a Christian charity dedicated to supporting young people in Southport through faith-based programs in primary and secondary schools. With over 25 years of impact, SASW Trust partners with schools, churches, and youth clubs, offering safe spaces for students to explore faith, mental health, and resilience. Our programs include engaging assemblies, interactive workshops, and popular Christmas and Easter events that hare the message of Jesus and offer hope. Through initiatives like lunchtime Safe Spaces in secondary schools, SASW Trust provides trusted, supportive environments where young people can grow in hope and purpose.

Background
Southport & Area Schools Worker Trust (SASW Trust) is a Christian charity that has served children, teenagers, and schools in the Southport area for over 25 years. The project was born from a vision to provide local young people with safe, welcoming spaces where they can explore life’s big questions, find support, and experience Christian values in a non-judgmental setting. Recognizing the rising pressures on young people and their growing need for mental health support, SASW Trust partners with local primary and secondary schools to offer programs that help students build resilience, understand faith, and find hope for the future.

Overview
The SASW Trust offers a range of activities in schools, including engaging assemblies, RE lessons, and specialized workshops for both primary and secondary students. In primary schools, SASW Trust youth workers lead interactive sessions, exploring themes like responsibility, emotional health, and friendship through drama, music, games, and videos. Highlights include the annual Christmas roadshow and an Easter event that bring the Christian message to life in an accessible way. For secondary students, SASW Trust runs lunchtime Safe Spaces, which pop up in school yards under a branded gazebo. These spaces serve as a supportive environment for students to check in on their mental health using a traffic light system and connect with youth workers about life and faith.

Expectations for Growth
SASW Trust aims to expand its programs to meet the increasing demand for mental health support and positive mentorship among Southport’s young people. By strengthening partnerships with schools, churches, and local organizations, SASW Trust is working toward reaching even more students each term. Additionally, through Safe Spaces and outreach activities, the charity encourages ongoing engagement, providing a pathway for students to connect with local churches and youth groups. Sustained support from the community, both financially and through prayer, will help SASW Trust continue to shine a beacon of hope for Southport’s emerging generation.
