Dear God...
“Hardly anyone can ever find God because God is right at the end of your mind after all the background thoughts are gone.”

Threads through the Bible

‘Threads through the Bible’ is an astonishing and inspiring exhibition of textile art, touring cathedrals from 2025.  It consists of 44 huge silk panels re-imagining key parts of the Bible.

Christian artist Jacqui Parkinson has spent ten years creating the panels, making what is probably the largest ever textile art project by a single person.  The artwork is very attractive and accessible:  it speaks to people of all ages and backgrounds, and gives them a closer and enjoyable view of the bible.

Jacqui Parkinson is a textile artist whose work has been on show in most of England’s cathedrals.

Her faith – and sharing it - is fundamental to her work.  She is backed by a team of supporters who formed a charity, New Creations, to support her work and provide use of a large studio.  She was once a drama teacher, and she aims to convey drama in her work, telling stories that engage the viewer – especially many cathedral visitors who may know very little about the Bible.

The rewards come from a stream of wonderful comments and other feedback from many adults and children. People are often touched, and sometimes moved to tears.

Amongst the very many visitors that will see ‘Threads through the Bible’ , there will be thousands of schoolchildren learning about the bible – and having fun!

Jacqui has been building up this project over ten years.  It is made up of three huge sequences.  First ‘Threads through Revelation’ and ‘Threads through Creation’ have toured many cathedrals and been seen by more than half a million visitors: now she has just completed ’Threads through the Cross’, eighteen key moments from the life of Christ.  ‘Threads through the Bible’ will be shown for the first time at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral from January 2025.
