Bridges for Communities
Peace Feast
Bridges for Communities monthly Peace Feast events in Bristol bring people together from different cultures and faiths who might not normally meet. Guests share a meal, enjoy live music and hear amazing stories.
Last year 486 people attended a Peace Feast and we have to date organised 81 Peace Feasts with a combined attendance of over 5,300 people.
There are 5 key ingredients:
Food, Stories, Music, Friendship….And you!
Peace Feast helps to challenge stereotypes and prejudice, and promote friendship and understanding. Hearing stories and music from other faiths and cultures helps people to gain a deeper understanding and increases tolerance. We partner with a wide range of organisations across Bristol to host the project including SS Great Britain, Redcatch Community Garden and Bristol Refugee Festival.
Through a "Pay-it-forward" scheme we are able to provide free tickets for people seeking sanctuary and the food and music are provided by people with lived experience of forced migration.
Peace Feast also creates an opportunity for refugees and asylum seekers to volunteer with us and gain UK work experience, improving future employability. The project is designed to be easy for other people to replicate in other cities, with extensive information shared on our website for others to use.

“Amazing! Came to be inspired and learn, and I am leaving with new connections and plans to volunteer.”
