Reedham Passion Play 2017

The idea of doing a Passion Play was first voiced by Paul Connelly, a much-loved member of the Reedham community, whose wife runs the Post Office. By the time the idea started to take shape Paul was ill.  He died on 19th December 2016, and the play is dedicated to his memory.
The Council of the eight churches of the Acle and Bure to Yare Benefice of the Anglican Church agreed in November 2015 that the play would be the main event in the benefice on April 14th 2017 (Good Friday).  From the first it was planned to be at five sites within the village of Reedham, rather than just in the church, and there were two objectives:
  • To take the story of Easter out of the church and into the community
  • To get to know the community better, to make new friends and to be available should they have questions about Christianity as a result of the play
The play was never intended to raise money for the church, as it was an act of witness rather than a ticketed event.  However, recognising that some people would want to donate, we chose to support the East Anglian Air Ambulance, who agreed to be present at the village hall on the day.
